Application
SURFACE PREPARATION
All surfaces in contact with ANCHORING CEMENT shall be free of dirt, oil, grease, laitance, paints and other contaminants. All unsound concrete should be removed to ensure a good bond. The hole to receive Anchoring Cement should be cored in sound concrete. Hole Depth: recommended hole depth is eight times bolt diameter size. (Hole diameter: multiply bolt diameter by 3 1/4 to get recommended opening size – round up to nearest 1/8" for core size). Blow or vacuum out all loose particles and dust. Dampen the surface of substrate to ensure good bond. Remove any standing water prior to placing cement.
MIXING
Always use a clean container. Do not use sand or aggregate to extend material. Mix 1 quart of cool, clean potable water to every 10 pounds of Anchoring Cement. Mix no more ANCHORING CEMENT than can be used in 5 minutes. Always add the powder to the liquid when mixing. Mix to a lump free consistency. Do not overwater as this causes bleeding and segregation.
FOR VERTICAL APPLICATIONS
Add just enough water for a putty-like consistency. Keep mixing for 1 1/2 minutes. Allow the powder to fully absorb the moisture until it begins to look like putty.
COOL OR WARM WEATHER
Follow ACI procedures for cool weather by adding warm water and ACI procedures for warm weather by adding cool water.
PLACING
When mixed to a fluid consistency, it is necessary to seal any openings where mortar may escape. Fixture should be supported until Anchoring Cement reaches final set. Once the work has begun, it should continue without interruption so the entire area to be grouted is completely filled before the mortar begins to set. Pour the ANCHORING CEMENT into the hole from one side to ensure even flow of material.
FINISHING & CURING
Follow accepted ACI curing practices. Exposed surfaces should be cured with a membrane forming curing compound such as UNITEX HYDRO SEAL or UNITEX HYDRO CURE. |
Limitations
Do not apply when temperature is below 40°F or due to fall below 40°F within 24 hours.
Do not apply over surfaces that are frozen or contain frost. |
Cautions
Contains Portland cement (CAS# 65991-15-1). Do not allow contact with eyes or skin.
Contains concrete aggregates, sand/gravel (CAS# 14808-60-7).
Avoid breathing dust. Respirable silica may cause serious lung problems.
There is limited evidence silica is a carcinogen.
